Curtains or Blinds
Curtains or Blinds
One of the biggest plus points for blinds over curtains is ease of installation and cost. While made to measure curtains can cost hundreds of pounds it is possible to fit a made to measure blind for less than £20. With curtains there is also the investment of a Curtain Poles that is required. Saying all this having a nice pair of curtains draped to each side of a window with a stylish curtain pole can look very attractive. There is also nothing to say that you cannot have both curtains and a blind in the window, with the curtain being more decorative in the day, and the blind being used to protect your privacy at the same time as letting light in, something that is not possible with curtains alone.
When deciding on curtains or blinds the main things to consider are practicability, budget, purpose and room setting. If they are going to be fitted in a small room then it would not be advisable to fit really thick, heavy dark Curtains on the outside of a recess, more suited would be a light coloured Vertical or Venetian blind into the window recess. If budget is a major factor then curtains can be taken straight out of the equation due to then general cost of these and also the cost of the curtain pole.
If the main purpose of the blind/curtain is to protect privacy during both day and night then again blinds must be preferred to curtains, as Venetian Blinds can be tilted to allow privacy and light to come in during the daytime at the same time as allowing daylight into the room. If the reason for the window dressage is to clock out light then here is the options of blackout curtains or curtains with blackout lining, then there is the cheaper option of a blackout roller blind
