Swift Blinds and Curtains have started a number if initiatives to add to its already stong sales as they have found that customers are looking to improve their homes and places of work rather than buy a new house in thee difficult times.
They have apponited an in-house internet manager to look after the website side of the business and improve the online experience. The new updates to the site will include functionality for both consumer and trade customers to view blind and curtain samples, view and access their accounts as well as place orders 24/7.
All this investement is going to run in conjuction with the traditional sales reps who are on the road throughout the country.

Swift blinds see the use of the internet as a vital way to increase brand awareness among their customers. There is also plans to launch another website which shall be aimed at their local customers in Huddersfield, with customers given the opportunity to see their showroom with the use if a virtual tour. There will also be the functionality for customers to arrange appointments for a consultant to come and measure there windows and give quotes for made to measure blinds.

People are Improving Their Homes

People who are tightening the purse strings of the household budget are cutting back on the “extras”, but these extras are not what you think. Let me explain: at www.home-sensations.co.uk we have seen an increase in window blind sales in February, in fact this month is going to be our best ever month.

Now you may ask how this can be, so I will give you my opinion on what I think is happening. Firstly there is not as many people moving house as there were, so what is happing is that they are undertaking in DIY projects in the house - painting and decorating, changing the carpet, building extensions etc. All of this is going to bring a need for new blinds, rugs, curtains or curtain poles to match all of these home improvements.

Secondly, although people are not selling their houses yet they are getting ready for when the market does take a turn for the better, so they are more inclined to do all those home improvements mentioned above, as they feel that these will make their property more attractive to a buyer, and in turn push the price up.

Now due to the economic climate we are in, with people either losing their jobs or scared of losing their jobs, they are not going to hire an expensive made to measure blind company’s to fit their blinds when they can go on-line and purchase them at a fifth of the price, as they don’t mind trimming and fitting them themselves. This is where we come in. We offer value for money, good quality blinds at very low prices; the reason our prices are low is that we buy in bulk in a set amount of sizes. All the customer needs to do is take a bit of time trimming one of our blinds and fitting it themselves. On a large project the savings can run into the thousands. This is why we have a lot of property developers who have been buying blinds off us for years. Coincidently everyone of them buys the same kind of blind, that is the Teak Woodgrain Venetian Blinds, as they get the wood effect at a fraction of the price.

Dunelm Mill To Take Over Old MFI Store

New jobs are to be created as Dunelm Mill gets ready to take over an old MFI store Derwent Howe.
The store is in a prime location next to Comet on Derwent Drive Retail Park. The store has been empty every since MFI went into administration last year.
The planned opening date at the 28,589 sq ft site is Thursday 9th April.
Dunelm Mill specialise in out of town home furnishings and provide a wide range of products including blinds, curtain poles, bedding and curtains to name but a few.
It is a long way from their humble beginnings in the late 1970’s when Bill and Jean Adderley started selling curtains on a Leicester market stall. The business developed into a successful chain of shops in the midlands. There main focus today is the out of town retail sector, and taking over the MFI store in Derwent Howe is a natural progression for them.

With the absence of Roseby’s who went into administration last year it could be said that there is a natural void to fill, and Dunelm Mill probably think that they are the company to fill that void.

How To Transform Your Home With Blinds

Designers are increasingly turning to window blinds to effectively transform a rooms style. By adding or updating the window blinds the style and the mood of the room can be totally changed, all at very little expense. By simply changing the colour you can dictate the mood, for example earth colours red, brown and yellow can create a comfortable mood.
With so many different colours available today it is possible to choose contrasting or complementary colours to bring out the rooms design. If the colour of the blinds is similar to the walls then it will make the room look bigger.
Blinds also have the ability to warm up a room by diffusing the light or blocking out the light completely. The best blinds for this is the blackout roller blinds, as the thermal properties help aid heat gain as well as loss.
There are many different types of window blinds available. Mini Venetian blinds, and vertical blinds are common selections and offer privacy, sun protection and stylish appeal.

It is very common for homeowners to have both Venetian and Blackout Roller Blinds in their bedrooms, as the venetian blind can be tilted to allow privacy at the same time as letting light in, and then the blackout blind I used at bedtime to block out all the light in the morning.
